Why Installers Like Polyaspartic
- Fast cure: coats can often be applied the same day, so many garages are done in one visit
- UV stability: resists the yellowing that many epoxies show in sunlight
- Abrasion and chemical resistance as a top coat over flake
- Wider temperature window than many epoxies. Some products are formulated for cooler conditions (your installer confirms the limits)
The Fine Print
Fast cure means the installer has to work quickly and know the product. It's not a DIY-friendly material. Preparation matters just as much as with any coating: if the concrete isn't ground and repaired properly, the fastest-curing coating in the world will still fail. Polyaspartic systems also tend to cost more per gallon than basic epoxy.
Common Setups
Full polyaspartic
Polyaspartic base, flake and top coat. The typical one-day garage floor.
Hybrid
An epoxy base for build and bond, then a polyaspartic clear top coat for UV and wear resistance.

Questions
Is a one-day garage floor as durable as a multi-day one?
It can be, when the prep is right and the products are professional grade. Ask what the system is, how thick it's applied, and what the installer's warranty covers.
Can polyaspartic go over my existing epoxy?
Sometimes, if the epoxy is well bonded and properly sanded or ground. Peeling or poorly bonded coatings need to come off first.
